2025-04-01MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Residents are picking up the pieces after a powerful line of storms pushed through parts of central and south Alabama late Saturday night into Sunday morning.In Montgomery County, the town of Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone says trees are down across the community and some property damage has been reported.Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed says parts of the Spring Valley neighborhood off Woodley Road have reports of damage. Montgomery EMA officials say most roads in the county have been cleared and teams are out assessing damage.Trees and power lines were also downed in Macon County. County EMA Director Frank Lee says the downed lines caused some fires. He says the damage is mostly in the Notasulga, Shorter, and Franklin areas.The strong thunderstorms brought pockets of damaging wind and a few confirmed tornadoes to Alabama. National Weather Service survey teams will evaluate the damage and assign ratings to the tornadoes in the coming days.No deaths or injures have been reported in central Alabama.POWER OUTAGESAlabama Power is reporting over 800 of its customers in central Alabama are without power as of 4 p.m. Sunday.Montgomery County: 150 customersLowndes County: 350 customersDallas County: 240 customersScattered outages are also in Butler, Chilton, Lee, and Tallapoosa Counties.Dixie Electric Cooperative reported all power had been restored around 10 p.m. Sunday.Crews for Alabama Power are working to restore power as quickly as possible.Not reading this story on the WSFA News App?
