Adobe's Version Cue causing various issues -- should be removed until further notice Over the past few days, we've noted a number of significant issues caused by Adobe's Version Cue -- a file-version manager in the Adobe Creative Suite 2 software. Among the problems: The Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 (CS2) installer fails part-way through when Version Cue is present, or when attempting to install Version Cue on some systems (particularly Intel-based Macs) Systems upgraded with QuickTime 7.1 and or Security Update 2006-003 fail to properly startup when Version Cue is present. For the first problem, as separately mentioned, you should uncheck Adobe Version Cue as an item to be installed when running the Adobe CS2 installer. In order to remove Version Cue, navigate to /Library/StartupItems directory (this is the Library folder at the root level of your hard drive -- not the Library folder in your home user directory) and remove the file "Version Cue." [Note that you may need to startup in Safe Mode by holding the shift key down while your Mac boots up in order to properly boot the system and remove the file]. If you want to remove all traces of Version Cue from your system, delete the following files (or place them in a separate folder for safe-keeping): Adobe Version Cue folder from the Applications folder VersionCueCS2.prefPane folder from the Library/PreferencePanes folder. com.adobe.versioncueCS2.plist file from the Library/Preferences folder. AdobeVersionCueCS2 folder from the Library/StartupItems folder. Feedback? [email protected] part-way throughfail to properly [email protected] from Late-Breakers Popular pages. Macs Cue. I'll do my best to help you get it working for you!The QLab workspace in the main directory contains all of the cues already built and ready to go. I'll keep regularly updated with the cues I've written as well as some other toys/tricks/solutions that I use!In each folder you'll find a README file with a description of what each cue does, along with a downloadable applescript file with the code needed for each cue, and a plain text version you can copy and paste in case you don't have the option to download the script directly!Currently I've tested on both Intel and M1 Macs, running Big Sur, High Sierra, and Ventura. These scripts have only been tested on QLab 4.7 as it's the only license I have currently. When I get access to 5 I'll do my best to get them updated and working on that version as well if any changes need made!PLEASE ALWAYS TEST THESE SCRIPTS BEFORE RUNNING THEM IN A SHOW CRITICAL ENVIORNMENT!!! I have tested them pretty well with what I have, but again, every setup is different, so please ensure it works on yours before trying to apply it!ALWAYS CHECK THE DEPENDENCIES BEING INSTALLED AS WELL! If you got any of these scripts from another source, they could be modified to install something malicious, so make sure they are installing the correct things! If you want to see more of my work (or commission me to create a custom solution for you, or needComments

2025-04-22I have a colleague with two teenage boys (yes, cue cliche's about 'I have this friend see...') He's currently having issues with them browsing pr0n and wants to do a little spying on their browsing (I'm staying clear of the philosophies/ethics on this.) The kids are savvy enough to clear their browsing history when they're done. As I'm his goto for IT he has asked me if there is a way to keep a hold of the browsing history. The family uses Macs, and the kids surf with Safari. I know that browsing history is kept here ~/Library/Safari/History.plist. I figure there should be a way to write either an AppleScript or other script (Python/Ruby/Bash) that can backup this file to a different location (/opt/local/history, etc.)Since the kids know to clear their history when they're done should the file be periodically backed up with something similar to a cron job or something like Hazel? While that could work it seems like it would create a ton of little incremental backups. Or is it possible to 'watch' ~/Library/Safari/History.plist and incrementally add changes to a backup file (saving a diff so to speak) but not lose any data?Any ideas/solutions appreciated.UPDATE/EDIT: Got the word from concerned dad that the oldest uses Firefox on a different PC, so the OpenDNS solution (preferably at the router level) is the best answer so far as it would capture usage for the whole house.

VersionCue CS 2 (2.01) can't turn on Thread starter nh39 Start date Dec 21, 2005 Status Not open for further replies. #1 Hello,First of all, what is VersionCue for? I've installed Adobe CreativeSuite 2 on many G5 Panther but this is the first time experiencing a problem. I'm not a savvy user of Adobe stuff - just provide tech support for the artists. After installing Adobe CS2 on one the computers we have here, everything works fine except VersionCue. It doesn't turn on like the other computers. I try to open VersionCue in the System Preferences, and all the options are grayed out. Please advise - any suggestion is appreciated.Thank you. #2 Try opeing the preferences for the other CS2 apps and click on File Handling. Click on Enable Version Cue, restart the computer, and see if that works. You also may have to log on with adminitrator privileges if you have the machines set up with administrator
