I keep Chrome as a backup. 2025-04-13When we posted tutorial to install IDM Integration Module extension in all web browsers, many IDM users contacted us regarding another IDM related issue which is disabling IEMonitor.exe process in IDM.If you use the popular download management software called IDM (Internet Download Manager) in your Windows computer or if you installed this software in your system and forgot it, you might have noticed a strange process called “IEMonitor.exe” running in Task Manager.Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys together to launch Task Manager and then check for IEMonitor.exe process in Processes or Details tab.Following screenshot shows IEMonitor.exe process running in one of our Windows 10 devices:Sometimes people consider it as a virus or malware and want to remove it from their computer but no antivirus or security software detects it as suspicious program, so users are unable to delete it from their computers.If you also have this process running in Task Manager, don’t worry! It is not a virus or dangerous program. This process is related to Internet Download Manager software.If you check its description in Task Manager, it states “Internet Download Manager agent for click monitoring in IE-based browsers“.
